The Arc de Triomphe is a huge triumphal arch that was commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 and competed in 1836.  The Arc de Triomphe is over 51 meters high and 45 meters wide.

Visitors to Paris can climb to the top and enjoy a wonderful view of the city of Paris from this very famous landmark. If you visit the Arc in the evening hours, you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the lights of Paris.

The Arc de Triomphe is located in the centre of a huge traffic circle from which radiates 12f major arterial roads, including the Champs Elysee.  The traffic circle is called Charles de Gaulle Etoille (i.e. star).

This famous Paris landmark is accessible by metro.
