The Palais de Justice or law court is situated next to the Conciergerie on Ile de la Cite at the south end of Pont-au-Change.  The Conciergerie was a prison during the French Revolution and a most dreaded place.  Among those imprisoned here were Thomas Paine and Mary Antoinette.  Today, the Conciergerie is a museum.
